Accessibility
The DAM Republic (TdR), a brand of voolama LLC, wants www.thedamrepublic.io to be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or other assistive technology.
This statement explains what we aim for, what we have checked, what we know still falls short, and how to tell us about a problem.
Our target
We work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is our target, not a claim: we have not yet had a full manual audit with assistive technology, so we do not say that the site conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA.
What we have done
On Nov 8, 2026 we ran automated accessibility checks (axe-core, against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 level A and AA rules) on a production build of the site, at a desktop width (1440 pixels) and a phone width (390 pixels). The pages checked were the home page, Insights, an article, the Privacy Policy, the Cookie Policy, this page, the games lobby and all five games, during play as well as before. We also checked that each game can be started with the keyboard alone, and that the pages fit a 320 pixel wide screen. We fixed what those checks found: text contrast on light purple backgrounds, a progress bar with no name, game cards whose spoken name did not match their visible text, the size of the phone and email links in the footer, and long web addresses and the footer, which pushed some pages wider than a narrow phone screen.
The site also has these measures in place:
- Every page declares its language as English and uses standard page regions (header, navigation, main content and footer), so assistive technology can move between them.
- Each page has one main heading, and sections use headings in order.
- Meaningful images have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- The menu, search, forms and games work with a keyboard. The menu closes with the Escape key. Links keep the browser's visible focus outline, and the games and forms have their own visible focus styles.
- Game buttons are at least 44 pixels tall, and game results and feedback are announced to screen readers as they appear.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site's animations and transitions are switched off.
- Videos on the Insights page do not load or play until you choose to play them.
- The pages we tested fit a screen 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways.
Known limitations
These are the problems we know about. We are working on them.
- Automated checks find only some accessibility problems. Screen reader, voice control and magnification use have not yet been tested by hand.
- The Rights Check game gives you 15 seconds per question, and the time limit cannot be turned off or extended. The other four games have no time limit.
- Articles, guides and other content are published continuously. Text alternatives and heading structure inside that content depend on each item, and not every item has been checked.
- On phones, the text of articles and policy pages runs right up to the edge of the screen, with no margin.
- Some parts of the site come from other companies and we do not control their accessibility: embedded YouTube videos once played, Google's privacy and cookie message shown to visitors in some countries, and, where they appear, advertisements served by Google.
